Campus as a Park

A vast expanse of outdoor space emerged after old school buildings had been demolished upon the construction of a new school building. We created five squares with different characteristics in the vast outdoor space and loosely interconnected them so that students’ activities will spread throughout the campus. Elements serving as key points at respective squares are deliberately designed like monuments in order to clearly indicate activity points for students. Our idea is to transform the entire campus into a spacious and open environment like a park by scattering monument-like activity points in the wide expanse of the outdoor space with gentle undulations.

公園のようなキャンパス


新校舎の建設に伴い古い校舎群が解体され、その結果キャンパス内に広大な屋外空間が生まれた。広大な屋外空間に特徴の異なる5つの広場を計画しそれらを緩やかに繋げることで、学生たちのアクティビティがキャンパス全体に広がっていくことを期待した。ファニチャーやパーゴラ、シェルター等、各広場のポイントとなる要素に対しては、あえてモニュメンタルなデザインを施すことによって、学生たちに活動の拠り所を明示したいと考えた。屋外空間の面的な広がりと緩やかな高低差の中に、モニュメンタルな活動の拠り所を点在させることで、キャンパス全体が公園のような大らかなで開放的な環境になればと思っている。
